A coach, not a ghostwriter. It asks the question a good editor would ask — the one that makes you realise what you actually meant — and leaves the writing to you.
When to reach for it
When you have something to say and you're not yet sure how to say it — the catalogue essay you keep restarting, the argument that feels true but won't hold together on the page. If you want prose handed to you, this is the wrong tool. If you want to think more clearly and write it yourself, it's the right one.
Start where you are
Bring a thesis, a rough opening, a paragraph you're unsure of, or just a question you're circling. The coach meets you at your current phase — ideation when you're still finding the argument, drafting when you're building it, revising when you're tightening it — and adjusts what it asks accordingly.

Get a question, not a rewrite
Submit your text and the coach responds the way a sharp mentor would: with a clarifying question that exposes a hidden assumption, an unexamined leap, or a claim you haven't earned yet. "You say the work resists the institution — resists how, exactly?" It's Socratic on purpose. The answer, when it comes, is yours.

If a question stings a little, it's usually pointing at the weakest joint in the argument. Answer that one first.
Take feedback as praise, question, suggestion
When you ask for feedback rather than ideation, it comes structured: what's working and why, what it's genuinely unsure about, and a specific suggestion you're free to take or leave. It names the strength before the fix — not to flatter, but because knowing what's working is how you avoid editing it away.

Decide, then keep going
Every suggestion is yours to adopt, revise, or reject — and the session remembers what you chose, so the coaching compounds instead of repeating itself. You move through the phases at your pace: ideation to outline to draft to revision, with the questions getting more granular as the essay firms up.

What it will — and won’t — do
It will interrogate your thinking, mirror your argument back to you, and hold you to a higher standard than you'd hold yourself at 11pm. It will not write your essay — by design, not limitation. The voice on the page stays unmistakably yours, which is the whole point of publishing under your name.
